The Problem
Microchip systems are broken. Most pets aren’t registered properly. Ownership records are out of date. Vets and breeders still rely on paper handoffs. And when pets go missing, owners are left hoping someone finds their animal and figures out how to contact them.
Add to that the scattered state of pet health records, and it’s no surprise that reunification rates remain painfully low.
What Pawbase needed was a better system: one that makes registration effortless, reunification faster, and health tracking smarter, all without asking users to change how they work.
The Solution
We used our 4-Step MVP Framework to scope, design, and build a mobile-first platform that supports three key user types from day one: pet owners, breeders, and veterinarians.
The MVP launched as a web + mobile app that lets users register microchips, manage pet profiles, store medical records, and trigger missing pet alerts in seconds. Scans via NFC tags or manual microchip ID lookup automatically notify owners with the location of the scan.
